    Environment: A call for investment in the hunting sector and the improvement of marine products and parallel industries​

    An engineer Amer bin Ali Al-Mutairi, The Director-General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Branch in the Eastern Region called on the business sector to invest in the fishing sector through improving marine products such as storage and preservation, as well as parallel industries for this vital sector.
    Al-Mutairi said during a remote meeting organized by the Asharqia Chamber represented by the Agriculture and Food Committee on Wednesday 19 August 2020 entitled “Initiatives of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Branch in the Eastern Region in light of the Corona pandemic,” and moderated by the Chairman of the Committee, Muhammad bin Nasser Al Dayal, that the hunting sector requires attention from investing in it while It is concerned with the maintenance and other industries that contribute to working on product availability and price stability.
    Al-Mutairi explained that the branch is working on a general and comprehensive plan for afforestation in the Eastern region that requires the participation of all parties, sectors, and individuals to achieve the great goal that aims to plant 25 million trees from the current year 2020 until the end of the year 2024, pointing to a number of new projects coming to the Ministry, the business sector will have a prominent role in it.
    Al-Mutairi indicated that the branch came out with a unique experience through the Corona pandemic, as this pandemic gave great lessons for dealing with problems and disasters, saying that the challenges that the branch faced were the same as other government institutions and the private sector, but the most prominent challenges were in the technical aspects and how to deal with After addressing the problems of farmers and livestock breeders, as well as maintaining supply chains and providing food baskets so that society and its members are not harmed, and the solutions were in concert with all sectors, ministries and agencies, as we were able to issue all necessary permits to all farmers, producers and livestock and poultry breeders in order to maintain supply.
    Al-Mutairi said: It is not a secret for everyone that the branch faced another problem besides the Corona pandemic, which is the invasion of the swarms of locusts that spread in the Eastern region. And the participation of the people of the country to eliminate that problem.
    On the port of Dammam city, Al-Mutairi clarified that there is coordination with the Eastern Region Development Authority on this issue through the site and the vision of the project that will be established on it so that there is participation through the authority to develop the project.​
    ​​Al-Mutairi stated that the ministry’s branch is working on projects aimed at improving and developing the sites received by the ministry through a vision to provide improvements according to the available capabilities, indicating the branch’s willingness to cooperate with investors to enable them to take advantage of the investment opportunities offered by the ministry.​
